Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies

The Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (SART) is a sub society of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). SART's members voluntarily follow ethical practice guidelines established by the organization, which works to improve standards of care and advocate for patients. Through review of practice data, SART works to continually improve the quality of care its members provide. Part of the review process includes reporting outcome information to the Center for Disease Control, through a third party administrator. Below is a segment of the SART web page, in which the society describes its activities. We are proud to be a member clinic in SART and try to exceed its ethical standards.

Your Doctor is a Member of SART: What does that mean?

SART doctors and scientists are on the cutting edge of the medical technology and science in treating infertility. They are continually researching new breakthroughs and are recognized nationally and internationally as the leading practitioners in the field. SART members are held to the highest professional standards, and our member practices follow strict guidelines in data collection and reporting, resulting in information that you can understand and count on. CAP, JCAHO, or NYSTB must accredit all embryology laboratories every two years. SART works with government agencies and patient groups to establish quality assurance standards, creative proper guidelines and provide educational information.

Information – The Key to Overcoming Infertility

No medical specialists are subjected to tougher scrutiny than those practicing assisted reproductive technology. Member practices annually provide clinic specific outcome data to SART, which is then submitted to the Centers for Disease Control. After rigorous analysis, the data are made available to the public. All data from SART practices are reviewed and subject to validation.

It can be hard to evaluate the data but understanding it can help you make an informed decision. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
