After Clomiphene (Clomid or Serophene)

A therapeutic trial on clomiphene (Serophene or Clomid) is 3 to 4 ovulatory cycles. Anything beyond that is a waste of time, effort and money. The highest recommended dose is 100mg (two tablets per day) for 5 days. Once in a while we will go up to 150mg per day for 5 days. We believe that anything beyond that is possibly adversely affecting the cycle since clomiphene is an anti-estrogen.

Once a therapeutic trial has been given on clomiphene, a patient should move on to Ovulation Induction with gonadotropins. Many patients state, "If I only knew then what I know now". The number one "If I only knew then" is that they wouldn't have waited so long.

Therapy after Clomid can be effective and fast. Many patients wonder why they ever put themselves through so much grief by delaying the move to more advanced therapy.
