Although we are primarily a fertility clinic, and Dr. Jacobs is a fertility doctor, he is also a gynecologist, with sub-specialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology. The extra training and education provide him with the optimal capacity to deal with all hormone issues of women’s reproductive system.
Many of the menstrual problems a woman may experience are because of hormonal problems. Women with abnormal or irregular menstrual periods have hormone problems related to their ovarian function, such as polycystic ovarian disease (PCO). Painful menstrual periods may be a symptom of endometriosis. Treatment of the disease can provide significant pain relief. Premature or delayed puberty are also issues best managed by a Reproductive Endocrinologist. After menopause, women have new, special needs, which actually begin before hot flashes, or the end of menstrual cycles. Early management of estrogen deprivation can decrease the risk of osteoporosis, heart attack and stroke, in later years.
Many Reproductive Endocrinologists limit their practices to infertility. Dr. Jacobs, however, recognizes the needs, and provides full medical services for women facing every aspect of hormone related issues from puberty to menopause. |
